Located in the heart of the Hertfordshire countryside, our 17-acre lake, set within a 23-acre private country park, offers a truly unique fishing experience. **The Importance of Catch Reports**
At Tumbling Bay Lake, we place great value on the documentation of catch reports. These reports are vital in helping us monitor the health and growth of our fish population. Not only do they provide insights into the fishery’s progress, but they also allow us to document original and previously unknown fish stocks. Thanks to the valuable catch reports submitted by our anglers, we've been able to uncover some exciting discoveries – including several carp that have surpassed 30lb in weight, as well as hidden fish that continue to be found throughout the lake. As the fish grow and the lake evolves, it’s clear that some of our most prized fish remain elusive and are still being discovered by those who take the time to record their catches. We encourage all anglers to continue reporting their catches. This helps us maintain an accurate record of the lake’s fish stock and provides us with the opportunity to highlight the hidden gems still awaiting discovery. It’s also a great way to share your successes and contribute to the community of anglers at Tumbling Bay.
**Recent Fish Stocking**
In 2024 & 2025, we enhanced our fish population by introducing 45 carp from Deben Valley Fisheries, sourced from their esteemed Spitfire strain. Each fish was stocked in excellent condition, with weights ranging from 10lb to 16lb with some already hitting the 20lb mark and growing strong. These remarkable additions are sure to provide exciting challenges for our anglers.
In 2023 we stocked 75 tench and 75 bream to complement the lake with some catch reports of the tench reaching 6lb + already.
**A Rich Variety of Fish Species**
Tumbling Bay Lake is home to a diverse range of fish species, providing an exciting and varied experience for anglers. The lake boasts a well-stocked population of:
**Carp** With estimated over 120 carp in the lake, including some exceptional individuals exceeding 30lb +. (we have documented 7 carp reaching over 30lb + with some bigger ones still yet to be recorded) Floppy tail common at the top so far at 36lb... there will be a 40lber soon I'm sure.
**Pike** The lake is known for its thriving pike population, offering exciting opportunities for predator anglers. Pike up to 18lb + documented so far
**Tench, Perch, and Bream** The edges of the lake are also home to tench, perch, bream, and other mixed silver fish, offering varied opportunities for those targeting different species.

**Parking and Access**
As we have limited parking on-site, we recommend contacting the bailiff in advance for detailed parking instructions and guidance on accessing the lake. Our team is always available to assist you with any access or parking-related questions. See further info on rules and parking page.
**Fishing Details**
Tumbling Bay Fishing Lake is a year-round, day and night fishery. With over 30 spacious, secluded swims available on a first-come, first-served basis, you can enjoy peace and privacy while fishing. Each swim is carefully designed to offer the best possible fishing conditions, surrounded by wild nature that makes the experience truly special.
**Night Fishing**: Night fishing is permitted, but please note that restrictions apply. We recommend reviewing our full set of rules and guidelines before booking to ensure an enjoyable and safe experience.
**Flexible Bookings**: Our lake is open throughout the year, and booking your fishing session is easy. We encourage anglers to pre-book, especially during peak seasons, to guarantee your spot.
**Booking Your Session** To fish at Tumbling Bay Lake, all anglers must purchase a valid ticket before fishing. Our convenient online booking system allows you to reserve your place in advance, or you can reach out by phone for assistance.
